Automotive Oil Development Specialist

Job Summary

• Automotive Oil Development Specialist is responsible for the development and optimization of automotive lubricant formulations including MCO, PCMO, HDDO and Chemical & Additive.

• The role involves conducting blend studies, analyzing raw materials and finished products, supporting technical and commercial functions, and ensuring laboratory compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Area Results

Automotive Oil Formulation Development

• Conduct blend studies for the development and optimization of automotive oils (MCO, PCMO, HDDO, Chemical and Additive).

• Evaluate raw materials (additives, base oils) in new or alternative formulations.

• Ensure compliance with relevant performance standards and.

Sample Analysis

• Perform analytical testing on raw materials (base oils, additives) and finished lubricants.

• Analyze customer and competitor samples to support benchmarking and product improvement.

• Document and interpret lab results, maintaining detailed records and technical reports.

Technical and Sales Support

• Prepare oil samples for field trials, product registration, and third-party performance tests.

• Prepare technical documentation for product registration.

• Collaborate with Sales and Technical Services teams to implement performance tests and field tests.

Laboratory Operations and Compliance

• Maintain laboratory equipment in proper working condition and ensure timely calibrations.

• Adhere to lab safety protocols, 5S methodology, ISO standards, and internal quality systems.

• Participate in lab audits and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualification & Certification

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry field.

• Experience in lubricant field is preferable.

Background & Experience

• 1–2 years of relevant experience laboratory within the chemical, petrochemical, or lubricant industry is often expected.

Professional skills & Personal skills

• Experienced in performing lubricant property basic tests, conducting blend studies, and preparing samples for registration and evaluation.

• Supports evaluation of base oils, additives, and alternative formulations for product development.

• Familiar with basic operation and maintenance of lab equipment; strictly follows lab safety protocols.

• Effective in written and verbal communication; works well in teams and shows initiative under guidance.

• Organized, takes responsibility for assigned work, and shows willingness to learn.
